Conflict diamonds (also known as blood diamonds or war diamonds ) are diamonds that are mined in the war zone and sold to the market. According to the definition of the United Nations, conflict diamonds are defined as diamonds that are produced by internationally recognized and legally opposite governments. It is named after the high profits of selling diamonds that have been invested by opposing parties in anti-government or armed conflicts that run counter to the spirit of the Security Council.
