What is a critical infrastructure?
Critical infrastructure concerns the basic assets that are considered essential for the continuing smooth functioning of society as integrated entities. The term is mostly used by the government of different countries, states or local administrations in the description of the infrastructure framework on the spot. Some of these basic or critical infrastructure include functions such as the transport system because it exists in the area, electricity and other energy requirements and the health system. It may also include a financial framework, telecommunications, electricity and water supply.
Critical infrastructure is considered "critical" because they are considered necessary for the effective functioning of society. For example, a good telecommunications network allows easy flow of information between members of the company in their private and business skills. When people are able to communicate with each other, society will benefit in different forms. Electricity is a critical infrastructure because people depend on electricity for everyday domestic and industrial activities. This type of infrastructure may include the construction and maintenance of dams, coal plants and other sources of electricity production, including electricity producing solar electricity. It may also include the design and maintenance of other alternative electricity sources of Genergie, such as windmills or energy obtained from nuclear energy.
