Peking University's School of Life Sciences focuses on personnel training and scientific research. The goal of talent training is to create professional talents, making them the backbone of teaching, research, and technology development in the field of life sciences. The goal of scientific research is to advance human cognition and understanding of the nature of life, while also paying attention to results with application value. Has two doctoral programs in biology and ecology.
School of Life Sciences, Peking University
The school's predecessor was the Department of Biology of Peking University, which was founded in 1925. It was one of the earliest established departments of biology in Chinese universities. In 1993, the School of Life Sciences of Peking University was expanded. The school currently has 54 professors and professor-level researchers (including 4 academicians,

The School of Life Sciences has a post-doctoral mobile station for biology. Since 1987, it has accepted post-doctoral stations. So far, more than 160 people have left the station and 36 people are still working at the station. According to incomplete statistics, more than 30 post-doctoral staff out of the station have been employed as professors, associate professors or researchers by the university system. Among them, 10 are employed by Peking University as professors, 1 is a researcher, and 8 are associate professors. About 47 people went to foreign scientific research, companies or teaching units to continue post-doctoral research or work.
The School of Life Sciences currently has 8 disciplines granting doctoral rights: botany, zoology, physiology, cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, biophysics, biology (bioinformatics), and biology (biotechnology); 49 doctoral supervisors.
For more than 20 years, the postdoctoral system has played a very important role in the flow of talents and high-level talents in the hospital. Postdoctoral researchers will continue to play an important role in the teaching and research of the hospital.
