Chen Deliang is an internationally renowned climatologist, an advocate and practitioner of earth system science, and a strategic scientist with a global perspective. He has an important influence and status in the world scientific community. He pioneered the development of downscaling technology for climate models, becoming one of the key technologies for climate prediction and climate change research, and has made outstanding contributions in the areas of regional climatology, climate dynamics, and global climate change [6] . He has done a lot of work and contributed to the scientific development of the Earth system in China.
