Navigation is an area of research that focuses on monitoring and controlling the process of moving a process or vehicle from one place to another. The navigation area includes four general categories: land navigation, marine navigation, aviation navigation, and space navigation. This is also an artistic term for the expertise used by navigators to perform navigation tasks. All navigation techniques involve locating the position of a navigator compared to a known location or pattern. In a broader sense, navigation can refer to any skill or research that involves determining location and orientation. In this sense, navigation includes directional movement and pedestrian navigation.

Navigation is a small part of the task consistent with careful navigation. The definition of military and civilian ships and ship-to-ship will be different, but in a form similar to:
(1) Maintain continuous projection plots.
(2) Take two or more constellation observations in the morning twilight for astronomical repairs (carefully observe 6 stars).
(3) Sun observation in the morning. It can be vertical in longitude or near gold vertical, or in one position at any time.
(4) Determine the compass error by observing the azimuth of the sun.
(5) Calculate the interval to noon, observe the apparent local noon time, and the constant of the meridian or meridian field of vision.
(6) Observe the sun at noon meridian or meridian or meridian. Run repair or cross noon repair with Venus line.
(7) At noon, determine the operation of the day and the setting and drift of the day.
(8) Have at least one afternoon sunlight line in case the stars are missing in the twilight.
(9) Determine the compass error by observing the azimuth of the sun.
(10) In the evening, take two or more starlight observations for astronomical repair (carefully observe 6 stars).

Navigation planning

Access planning or voyage planning is a fully described procedure for developing a vessel's voyage from start to finish. The plan includes leaving the dock and port area, halfway part of the voyage, close to destination and berth. Under international law, the captain of a vessel is legally responsible for access planning [31], but for larger vessels, the task will be delegated to the ship navigator. [10]
Studies have shown that human error is a factor in 80% of navigational accidents, and in many cases, human error can provide information that can prevent accidents. The practice of navigation planning has evolved from a pencil on a navigation chart to a risk management process.
Admission planning includes four stages: assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring. These stages are stipulated in IMO Resolution A.893 (21), "Navigation Planning Guide", and these guidelines are reflected in the laws of the local IMO signatories (E.g., U.S. Federal Regulation 33) and specialized books or publications. Depending on the size and type of ship, there are fifty elements of an integrated access plan.
The assessment phase deals with the collection of information related to the proposed voyage, as well as identifying risks and assessing the main characteristics of the voyage. In the next stage, a written plan was created. The third stage is the implementation of the final voyage plan, taking into account any special circumstances that may arise, such as weather changes, which may require review or modification. The final stage of access planning involves monitoring the progress of the ship in planning, and responding to deviations and unforeseen circumstances.
