Economic assistance. A country helps another country to develop its economy or overcome economic difficulties with money, technology, or materials. There are two types of assistance: unpaid assistance and paid assistance: the former, such as grants or materials, and free technical assistance; the latter, such as long-term interest-free loans or low-interest loans. Some financial aids have no additional conditions, and some have direct or indirect conditions. The latter "aid" is often a means by which imperialism achieves its economic, military, and political control over recipient countries. ^[1]
