- Debraj Ray, an internationally renowned economist, was born in India in 1957. He received his PhD in economics from Cornell University in 1983. He is currently a professor of economics at New York University, and has worked at the Stanford, Harvard, MIT, and Boston University economics departments. He has also published more than 50 academic papers in top international academic journals such as Political Economy, Econometrics, and International Economic Evaluation. He also serves as the main research center for development economics; the director of the Institute for Economic Development at Boston University. He has conducted in-depth research on economics theory, especially the major fields of development economics, and is an internationally renowned theoretical economist and development economist.
