The social worker occupation level assessment examination implements a national unified outline and unified proposition examination system and is held once a year in principle. The examination subjects for assistant social workers are Comprehensive Social Work Ability (Elementary) and Social Work Practice (Elementary). The subjects of the social work teacher's professional level examination are Comprehensive Social Work Ability (Intermediate Level), Social Work Practice (Intermediate Level), and Social Work Regulations and Policies.

1. All citizens of the People's Republic of China who abide by national laws and regulations, abide by professional ethics, and meet the registration requirements of assistant social workers or social workers can apply to take the corresponding level of examinations.

2. Registration requirements for assistant social work teachers:

(1) Obtained a high school or technical secondary school degree, and engaged in social work for 4 years;

(2) Acquired a college degree in social work and has been engaged in social work for 2 years;

(3) Fresh graduates of social work majors;

(4) Obtained a college degree in other majors and has been engaged in social work for 4 years;

(5) Bachelor degree or above in other majors, engaged in social work for 2 years.

3. Registration requirements for social work teacher examination:

(1) Having obtained a high school or technical secondary school degree and obtained the professional level certificate of an assistant social worker, and engaged in social work for 6 years;

(2) Obtained a college degree or above in social work and has been engaged in social work for 4 years;

(3) A bachelor's degree in social work that has been engaged in social work for 3 years;

(4) obtained a master's degree in social work, and engaged in social work for 1 year;

(5) A doctorate in social work;

(6) For those who have obtained a bachelor's degree or above in other majors, their years of social work will be correspondingly increased by 2 years.

4. The academic qualification requirements in the above application conditions refer to the formal academic qualifications recognized by the State Education Administrative Department; the deadline for social work years in the application conditions is the end of the year in which the examination is registered.

5. Hong Kong and Macao residents who apply to take the social worker vocational level examination should submit their identity certificate, academic qualifications or degree certificates recognized by the education administration department of the State Council, and professional practice certification. The measures for professional technicians in Taiwan to take the examination are separately stipulated. The specific measures for foreigners to apply for taking the vocational level examination for social workers shall be separately stipulated.
