- He graduated from Tsinghua School in 1920 and studied in the United States in the same year. He studied at the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago's Luoxu Medical College. In 1926, he successively obtained a Bachelor of Science, a Doctor of Medicine, and a Doctor of Philosophy. In 1955, he was elected as a member (academician) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
