The UN Volunteer Project has basically achieved this initial goal. After 1997, under the guidance of the China Cooperation Framework and the Development Framework of the United Nations Development Programme, the UN Volunteer Program shifted its focus to related areas that promote national capacity building and institution building, and promote sustainable human development.
So far, more than 40 international volunteers have been introduced through the UN Volunteer Project and other UNDP and international aid agency fund projects, involving poverty alleviation, participatory development, small loans, environmental protection, renewable energy use, women's development, Management and implementation of cultural heritage protection and UNDP regional international cooperation projects.
