What are the different types of Microsoft® certification?

Microsoft® certification can increase your career opportunities by demonstrating competence in a technical subject or application. Available certifications fall into the following categories: support for desktops, technology, professional, master and architect. Each category has a number of specific areas and each area requires applicants to pass the exam. In addition to passing the certification examination, candidates must also have at least one year of experience.

Microsoft® certification in the professional series offers a certification that falls into two umbrellas: Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITE) and Microsoft® Certified Professional Developer (MCPD). MCITP certification verifies the ability to work with specific Microsoft® technologies. MCPD certification shows competencies as a developer for Visual Studio and .NET Framework. In addition to completing the certIFIC tests must also be certified by technology specialists.

MASTER MASTER (MCM) certification (MCM) Microsoft® Certified is designed for information technology industry experts and requires specialized training from Microsoft® Professional Staff. Relevant scenarios are used for work in laboratories and lectures. The training lasts three weeks and students take three tests and one comprehensive exam. This is the certification for the highest level designers and solutions. Specific areas are Exchange server, Windows server, SQL Server, Office SharePoint Server and Office Communications Server.

Certified Architect Microsoft® Certified Architect (MCA) is the highest level of certification that can be achieved. It requires many years of experience, MCM certification and interview with the Audit Council. Those searching for MCA credentials must prove professional competencies in many technical areas. Candidates can choose either from technological program tracks or from the Infrastruct programure.
