What Does a Line Installer Do?

Line construction refers to the construction of transmission lines. Line construction mainly includes construction steps such as digging (holes), poles, pay-offs, wire connections, tight wires, and pull wires. [1]

(1) The line construction is a field operation. The complex environmental conditions along the line, the long front, and many interference factors have brought certain difficulties to the organizational plan of the construction.
(2) There are a large number of high-altitude operations in the construction of the line, which are difficult and demanding. The construction personnel must strictly implement the relevant safety operation procedures to ensure the safety of construction and prevent accidents.
(3) The line project is located in the field, the construction conditions are poor, and the degree of construction mechanization is not high. Only simple tools and equipment can be used, and most of the work must be completed by manpower.
(4) In the event of a power outage during the construction of some major revision projects, it is necessary to coordinate time with the power supply and user departments. For projects with limited time operations, careful planning and strict organization are required. Therefore, the construction is difficult, the technical requirements are high, and it is dangerous. [2]
The line construction can be divided into three stages: the preparation stage, the construction and installation stage, and the construction acceptance transfer data. The main construction projects and contents are as follows.
1. Preparation phase
(1) Site survey. Before construction, survey the surrounding area and related conditions, including natural environment, terrain, geology, landform, village distribution, and traffic roads along the line. Prepared according to the survey situation
(1) According to the construction site conditions and work needs, the construction personnel are divided into several classes and groups, and the head and safety officer (work guardian) of the specified classes and groups are designated. Safety personnel should be staffed by highly skilled staff.
(2) Organize construction personnel to understand
(1) Prior to the commencement of the project, the relevant units shall handle the agreement and permit formalities in a timely manner;
(2) Reasonably arrange the construction period and schedule;
(3) For projects that do not require power outages, priority should be given; for projects with live working conditions, non-power outages should be used to complete the project as much as possible;
(4) If a blackout operation is required, the load of the non-construction section line should be dumped to minimize the blackout range and minimize the blackout time;
(5) Establish complete safety measures and establish a project quality assurance system before construction.
The construction of the line includes new construction, reconstruction, and expansion. From the start of the project to the completion of the project, the construction procedures prescribed by the state must be strictly implemented. The construction quality shall meet the requirements of relevant construction and acceptance specifications and meet the prescribed quality standards. [2]
