Under the guidance of professionals, mechanical inspectors evaluate hardware documents, perform experimental procedures, inspect products, record data, and prepare formal reports.
Minimum requirements for registered mechanical inspectors:
· Must know basic quality terms, definitions and concepts.
Must know basic statistical terms and techniques, how to collect data, and identify out-of-control conditions.
· Must know the concept of PDCA and understand the concept of team.
Know the type of measurement, the terminology of the measurement, and the difference in the measurement scale.
· You must know the difference in accuracy and precision, and you can choose the right measurement tools and techniques.
· You must know how to measure with a flat layout.
· Must be able to identify inspection errors and initial processing.
· Must have basic proofreading knowledge.
· Must be able to read and interpret design drawings and know the concepts of key, major, and minor characteristics.
· Must have a working knowledge of ASME Y 14.5M, GD & P, and an understanding of x, y, and z coordination systems.
· Must be able to use inspection planning tools and perform product audits, be able to determine the size of samples in batches; randomly select samples.
· Knowledge of test methods.
· Must be able to identify and report non-conforming material.
· Must understand traceability (product, material and calibration).
· Must have strong basic mathematical knowledge and perform measurement conversion; be able to solve x, addition and subtraction, minutes, seconds.
