What is a Paid Internship?
The project has been introduced to mainland China since the China Foreign Friendship and Cooperation Service Center in 2006. After 7 years of operation and promotion, it has cooperated with nearly 200 domestic well-known universities and reached a total of more than 12,000 students in the United States. During the summer vacation, students enter US companies on J-1 visas for short-term internships of 10-12 weeks. Internship companies are located throughout the United States, mainly in theme parks, restaurants, and hotels. Each international student is paid equal pay for the same work as colleagues of the same level; and can use the spare time of the internship to travel or experience American life in the United States and learn about the American customs. Paid internships in the United States
Right!
- The project since 2006
- The paid internship program in the United States, SummerWork & Travel USA, is based on the Information and Education Exchange Act ( Smith-MundtAct ) passed by the US government in 1948 , which establishes a basic framework for exchange visit programs. This Act was incorporated in 1961 and expanded into the Education and Cultural Equality Exchange Act ( Fulbright-HayesAct ). Before the project was promoted in mainland China, it has been successfully operated in Europe, the Americas and other Asian countries and regions for more than 30 years. Every year, tens of thousands of students use their summer vacation to enter US companies on J-1 visas for 8-16 weeks. Short-term internship. And use the spare time of the internship to travel or experience American life in the United States and learn about the American customs.
- The characteristic of the project is that it provides an opportunity for college students from all over the world to set foot on American soil, experience American life culture, improve English language skills, enter American companies, and work side by side with American colleagues and interns from other countries. In addition, the J-1 visa allows each intern to perform internship work under the protection of the perfect US labor system, and pay the same work as US colleagues. This is not only a reflection of the characteristics of equality, independence, and human rights in American society, but it can also actually reduce the financial burden of internship students in the United States.
