What is the smile® step 1?

The United States Medical License test (USMLE®) is a professional test that American doctors have to pass to practice medicine, and Step 1 USMLE® is the first part of the exam. It is in multiple selection, computer -based format and contains 322 questions spread over seven main sections, each of which lasts an hour. American medical students generally take part in the Usmle® step after the first two years of the Faculty of Medicine. International students also have to pass an examination if they want to practice medicine in the US after education. In the category of individual organ systems, four main concepts, including normal processes, abnormal processes, therapeutic principles and other reflections on culture, environment and psychosocial factors, are tested. Each topic is tested with regard to these ideas, although the topics themselves have a wide range that corresponds to the traditional curriculum taught during the first two years of the US Medical Faculty. Anatomy and physiciaIology, pharmacology, pathology, biochemistry and molecular biology and behavioral sciences are generally the main topics tested. Other topics include empathy and ethics in medicine.

Step 1 Usmle® is about eight hours long and consists of seven hours of sections, each containing 46 questions. During the test there are several opportunities for breaks, which for a total of about 45 minutes, except for the optional 15 -minute tutorial that can be skipped. If the student completes the section soon, there may be a breakthrough time. Since the test is based on a computer, it is generally used in a professional test center where time is carefully monitored.

Step -up Step 1 UsMle® occurs both in two -seater and in three -seater format, each can be calculated separately from the other. The three -digit score is based on a maximum of 300 points, but this score was not beforeto see by various medical license councils. The average three -digit score per step 1 is generally around 221 with a standard deviation of 24 points. The score required to pass the exam is 188 on a three -digit scale and 75 on a double -digit scale. Unlike some common assumptions, the two -seater scores are not the status of the test percentile, because the percentage score has not been used since 1999.
