In the same year, the People's Commune residential buildings were built in the North Government Hall of Dongcheng District and Fusui Jing in Xicheng District. They all have large spaces for public canteens, and each floor in the building is equipped with public water rooms and toilets. The building has 8 floors and 3 elevators. This is the first residential building in Beijing to be fitted with an elevator.
At the beginning of 2004, it was listed as a big fire hazard unit in Beijing.
In 2005, the Fusuijing Building began to retreat from danger. Most of the original 364 households were removed from the building [1] .

The once famous "People's Commune Building" was also called "Communist Building". In the tumultuous "Great Leap Forward" era, public canteens are one of the most obvious features. Family eating together in large pots is the most popular and most advocated lifestyle.
The common people who lived in the People's Commune at that time had to undergo strict political scrutiny. Approximately 40 households can live on each floor. There are 358 households in this building.
In 2004, the building was listed as a major safety hazard in the city, and the Xicheng District Government of Beijing began to invest in insurance and retire. According to the statistics of the Xinjiekou Housing Administration in 2013, more than 300 households have been relocated to just over 20 households.
Fortunately, this building has been listed in the first batch of Beijing's modern and historical protected buildings. This is fortunate, because not only the buildings listed can not be demolished, and the facade cannot be changed.
