- Technology has played an important role in Mastercard's global growth. Authorization between the card-issuing bank and the receiving bank was initially made by phone.
- In October 2019, Interbrand ranked 62 in the Top 100 Global Brands List [1]
- Although MasterCard was a credit card company from the beginning, in 1979 it became an international integrated payment services company. Since then MasterCard has provided a full range of payment products and services.
- MasterCard first classified the market in 1981. It issues MasterCard Gold in the U.S. to target customers with higher spending power, and it also issues MasterCard Travel
- As Mastercard continues to grow, the design of its card products continues to reflect these changes. The earliest, in order to distinguish ICA members and special merchants, the "i" symbol was printed on the card. The card issuer's logo is clearly visible on the card to highlight each bank. Later in 1969, the Master Charge symbol was introduced, which is a separate image logo. In 1970, the Master Charge logo occupied the entire card screen. After nearly 10 years of unprecedented development, Master Charge became MasterCard in 1979. As the Mastercard trademark is stronger, the association has decided that card issuers have since been allowed to occupy only 25% of the card surface to identify their banks. But in 1984, Mastercard allowed the card issuer to occupy 60% of the card surface to identify its bank; by 1987, the proportion increased to 80%; in 1990 it increased to 85%. The familiar red and yellow logos are now available. Mastercard's new logo symbolizes a new era for Mastercard. Its smaller logo reflects that Mastercard has enough visibility, so it can free up more space to identify the member bank that issued the card. MasterCard created the Cirrus and Maestro logos in a similar shape in 1992. Strengthen the association between different MasterCard products in the eyes of customers.
- In 1996, a new and revised Mastercard logo was introduced. The changes were: the size of the letters was increased with limited shadows, the interlocking lines between the two spheres were reduced, and the background was changed to dark blue. These changes increase the visibility and recognizability of the logo and increase the overall strength of the trademark image. Since the beginning of 1997, the new MasterCard logo has appeared on tens of thousands of member banks, tens of millions of merchants and hundreds of millions of Mastercards. It will accompany the economic development and the improvement of people's living standards, and it will gradually penetrate into the hearts of consumers around the world.
