Except for the free edge, the other three sides of the finger (toe) nails are in contact with the skin folds. Toenail groove inflammation is an infection that occurs at the toenail groove. Most are infections caused by mild injuries, such as trimming toenails, or friction from shoes that do nt fit. The main symptoms are redness and swelling on one or both sides of the toenails, severe pain, and even pus may appear.
