What are the side effects of Enbrel®?

Enbrel® is a medicine that can block the factor of tumor necrosis (TNF), a substance that causes swelling in the body. As such, this drug is used to treat various forms of arthritis, plaque psoriasis and ankylosing spondylitis. Enbrel® has several side effects, including pain, swelling and redness, as well as bleeding at the injection site, headaches and upper respiratory tract infection such as sinusitis. Other, more serious side effects Enbrel® include various forms of infections, increased risk of cancer, activation of hepatitis B, heart failure, symptoms that resemble lupus and low blood production. Some people may even have nervous problems such as seizures, strokes and multiple sclerosis.

Many of the most common side effects of Enbrel®, such as pain, swelling and redness at the injection site, is generally the least serious. Patients should also monitor the more serious side effects of Enbrel® because some may be deadly. For example, the flu, known commonly as the flu, is a viral infection and should be treated seriously if the person takes Enbrel®. Other upper respiratory tract infections such as tuberculosis may also be the side effects of Enbrel®. Cough, wheezing, a feeling of tightness in the chest and other similar features should also be taken seriously.

Enbrel® may also cause blood production. It is this phenomenon that can allow infections to overtake the body. Other effective side effects Enbrel® caused by reduced blood are easily bruises, bleeding and paleness. Another side effect of Enbrel® may include an increased risk of cancer and other diseases. For example, a person may be more susceptible to lymphoma when taking the drug.
