What is hemoglobinometer?

Hemoglobinometer, also known as HB-meter, is a laboratory tool used to analyze the hemoglobin content in the blood. Hemoglobin is an important part of red blood cells (RBC). It is a protein that is responsible for the transfer of oxygen to different parts of the body and carbon dioxide for excretion from the lungs. This protein is also responsible for keeping red blood cells in their normal disk shape. The hemoglobinometer is usually operated by trained staff in the laboratory. With the advent of blood computers, hemoglobin levels, as well as the number of RBC and white blood cells (WBC) are usually included in the complete blood (CBC) test. CBC is often performed in patients with anemia, infections and other diseases. Anemia is a condition in which red blood cells decrease in circulation. This test is often performed by extracting blood from the arm, mixing sample with agents and reading results by machine.

There are also smaller and portableHemoglobinometers that doctors can use at their clinics. One of them often uses when it is needed, and while the patient is waiting. Depending on the test result, doctors may require additional tests or continue treatment. This is particularly common in clinics of obstetricians and gynecologists, because women are susceptible to the development of anemia due to menstruation, pregnancy and other reproductive problems. Obstetrics are doctors who treat pregnant women and gynecologists, those who deal with problems with reproductive health of women.

In newborns and pediatric patients, especially those who were born prematurely, the use of a portable hemoglobinometer is often comfortable. This medical instrument can be brought to the L -Cool CCP, where infants can be tested even when they are in the incubator. The amount of blood sample is also very small and therefore prevents the onset of anemia caused by frequent blood monitoring.

When using a portable hemoglobin analyzer, a blood sample should be used to be usedt of vein, arter, y or capillaries. The injection site, such as a finger, is usually cleaned with alcohol before the sample is placed in a hemoglobinometer for reading. In seconds, hemoglobin reading appears on the hemoglobinometer display screen. This tool is also considered useful in emergency situations because of its simplicity of use, accuracy and rapid delivery of results.
