What is an enzymatic test?

The

enzyme test measures certain proteins in the body responsible for regulating chemical activity. Different enzymes serve different functions depending on which organ it excludes them. Enzymatic tests can detect the disease in the abdominal, heart, pituitary or thyroid or in the digestive tract. To test the enzyme levels, a blood sample is drawn to help doctors diagnose the disease. Doctors

can determine whether the patient has suffered a infarction with an enzyme test of creatine phosphokinase (CPK). This enzyme also occurs in the brain and muscles, but a specific evaluation of CPK levels can exclude or confirm a heart attack. The CPK enzyme test usually occurs in a tandem with an electrocardiogram in the emergency room.

CPK levels rise to three to six hours after a heart attack. The enzyme concentration usually peaks within 12 to 24 hours and returns to normal about 48 hours later. Although the electrocardiogram registers in the normal range, the high level of CPKD states that there has been an infarction.

The

test of the protease enzyme measures how the body spends protein. Abnormal levels may indicate osteoporosis or arthritis. This enzyme also regulates some of the functions of the immune system and the relaxed level of antibodies. Too much protease could prevent the immune system from functioning and indicate an autoimmune system failure. One character may be present when ulcers or injuries slowly recover.

Peroxidase is released by the gland of the thyroid gland to produce hormones. It regulates blood pressure and body metabolism. The renal glands and pituitary glands also release enzymes that can be tested for disease.
