What is Ankkyloglossia?
Ankkyloglossia is a state characterized by an unusually shortened or strong frenul. Frenulum is a piece of tissue that lies under the tongue. In people with ankyloglosia, the shortened frenulum limits the range of tongue movement and can lead to some complications. For people who require treatment, there is a simple surgery that can be used to relax tongue. Some people have a relatively mild form that is primarily restrictive because it can consider it difficult to stick their languages on people or engage in activities such as touching the tip of the nose with tongue. For others, the tongue may be so closely tied that it is basically captured on the base of the mouth. This condition is often identified in children and many children are able to function well without any intervention. If a shortened frenulum begins to cause problems with feeding or speaking, but it may be time to take steps to resolve the situation due to the patient's comfort. Patients may also choose to treat aesthetic reasons. Above all, it becomes uncomfortable or makes it difficulteat or talk, which leads the patient to treatment. Some people adapt to their shortened frenulum and are absolutely happy as they are.
Surgery for the treatment of ankyloglosia is known as frenotomy or French. In this procedure, the offensive belt belt is simply cut off so that the tongue can move freely. This is often done under a local anesthetic and there are usually no stitches. If a larger procedure is needed, some stitches may be placed, in which case they will be made from absorbable stitches to quickly disintegrate the mouth, limiting irritation.
Healing time from frenotomy to treat ankyloglosia is very fast. Patients may be recommended that after each meal they rinse their mouths for several days to reduce infection, but often no major aftercare is required. However, patients may consider it appropriate to remain from spicy, greasy, chewing orsticky food after the first few days in the interest of avoiding pain. It is also advisable to refrain from acrobatic exercises with the tongue in the first few days to prevent reopening of the cut.
