What is dentistry?

Dental is a medical discipline concerning the study of the mouth. Historically, it was a recognized medical specialty in many regions of the world, although today people are more likely to refer to dentistry as "dentistry", depending on where they are. In some countries it is still possible to specialize in dentistry as a discipline separated from dentistry. This includes the study of teeth, finding how teeth are formed and the roles of different types of teeth in the mouth, along with the studies of mucus membranes in the mouth, jaws and palates. The education of anatomy is carried out by various sources, including textbooks of anatomy, cadavers to study and interact with living patients.
