How Do I Copy a Hard Drive?

Ghost is often used in hard disk copying, which is very convenient when recovering the system. I have used it a lot, accumulated some tips, and brought it out to everyone.

Hard disk copy

When doing a full-disk clone of a disk-to-disk, or copying partitions between different disks, it is easy to make a mistake not knowing which disk is the source disk and which is the target disk. Especially when the two disk size partitions are the same, it is even harder to distinguish.
The safer way is to set the source disk as the master disk and mount it on ide0, mount the target disk on the ide1 port, and then enter the bios setting, and set the first item of the system item to ide0 to start, or C drive to start. After entering the ghost in this way, the first disk is the source disk, and the second is the target disk, so it is distinguished.
In fact, in actual work, sometimes the workload is relatively large, you need to hold the source disk one computer to ghost. The computer is usually already connected, the hard disk is generally connected to ide0, and the hard disk is the main disk. It would be a waste of time to go offline at this time. The best way is not to move the target disk, you can connect the source disk to ide1 to ghost. After many experiments, I finally figured out how to do it. It turns out that the ghost software always uses the hard disk that boots the system as the first hard disk.
For example, we connect the source disk to the ide1 port and the target disk to the ide0 port. When booting, adjust the boot sequence in bios to ide1 boot (that is, boot from the source disk, which is the most critical point). In this way, after entering the system, the mirror can be restored in the order that the first disk is the source disk and the second disk is the target disk. This saves time for replacing the hard disk cable, which can save time and improve efficiency.
On the one hand, computers bring great convenience to users; on the other hand, operating system paralysis and data loss caused by improper use or unforeseen reasons also cause users great annoyance. In view of this, as a computer user, it is very important to master the true skills of backup and recovery. Ghost is known for its powerful functions and ease of use, and has become a leader in hard disk backup and recovery software.
Most of the friends who often deal with computers must have reinstalled the system x times. The instability of windows98, the failure of various software and hardware, and some inexplicable problems make me and other diy people often accompany the "reinstall system nightmare" , A waste of time, let alone say, various
Today's hard disk capacity is really scary, 250gb, 500gb is standard, 750gb, 1tb are also common. People like me who often reinstall the system for units and friends, worry about partitioning and formatting every time. Each time such a large hard disk is fdisked and formatted, it takes less than half an hour and more than an hour, which is really a delay.
In fact, the use of ghost software can achieve fast partition formatting. First, find a hard disk, preferably a smaller one. Connect it to your machine. Partition and format this hard disk. Remember not to store any files on this hard disk. Then use the system disk to start the machine, run ghost in the DOS state, select "local disk to image", and mirror the hard disk formatted by the partition into a file. Because there are no files on this hard disk, the image file formed is very small, and you can use ghost. The exe file and this image file are stored on a boot floppy disk. Next time you need to partition and format the hard disk, you can use this floppy disk to start the machine, run ghost, select "local disk from image", then select the image file on the floppy disk, select the target hard disk, and then in "destination drive details" In the "new size" box below the window, manually adjust the capacity of each partition (you can also use the default capacity allocation regardless of it), press the "ok" key, and then press the "yes" key. It only takes a few seconds. The big hard disk is partitioned and formatted!
If you have time, you can make a few more image files as described above, and store different partitioning methods to meet different partitioning requirements.
