What are emoticons?

The word emoticon is a combination of words of emotions and icons. Emoticons are used online to introduce intonation or inflection of voice, body gestures and emotions for statements that could otherwise be interpreted incorrectly. :)

Sometimes a dash is used between the eyes and the mouth to indicate the nose. :-)

This emoticon is usually used to hand over lightness, happiness, face or joking. If you want to see the difference that the emoticon can make, just look at the next two statements:

Yeah, James, you looked like a real geek. or ...

Yeah, James, you looked like a real gek. It should be an insult. The second statement, however, with his Smilinemt face is very clearly intended playfully and is unlikely to cause insult. Incorrect interpretation of intentions is all too easy, minus facial expressions and verbal inflection that communicates in the face.

with popThe ularity of the smiley of the emoticon followed quickly. Sometimes the emoticon becomes popular in a specific discussion group or a web group, but will not be known outside this group. Other emoticons became part of the international Internet language.

Smile and frowning emoticons were first designed by computer scientist Scott Fahlman on 19 September 1982. Fahlman's post, to the wall of Carnegie Mellon University, was pulled out of archives on September 10, 2002 to settle the long -term reputation that they were created. Some believe that emoticons were also used by other parties. In any case it seems to beIt was clear that they had to be part of our online folk.
