What are the different types of firewall devices?
Firewall is a software application designed to limit access between two networks to avoid unauthorized access. There are many types of Firewall. Some act as part of the operating system, while others are reserved software applications. The most common types include packet filter, packet -state filter, application gateway or proxy and disturbance protection system (IPS) or disturbance detection system (IDS). There are other firewall devices, but they are often not so effective.
Packet filters carefully examine each packet of information that enters the network and allows or denies input based on previously introduced user rules. These rules may include factors such as the source internet protocol (IP), whether the package is trying to create connections and protocols such as TCP (TCP), UDP (UDP) and Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) ./ P>
Packer filter is basically upgrading from the original packet filter. It can manage the rules as its predecessor, but it can also monitor active connection and then use this additional information to better assess whether the incoming packet is safe or dangerous. The application gate, also known as the application gateway, is an even more intelligent and sophisticated firewall device.
