Although it often provides new hardware to drivers, often on a compact disk (CD) or similar media, many hardware manufacturers also provide tightening for drivers. This allows someone to install drivers, even if the disk has been lost and makes it easier to provide updated controls for hardware manufacturers. The nature of such internet controls can vary very much, although they can be available for hardware such as printers and scanners and for internal devices such as graphics cards and network adapters. Drivers are computer files that allow the computer (OS) operating system to be recognized and communicated with different hardware pieces. This is usually in contrast to devices that are referred to as "plug and play" hardware, it can usually be connected to a computer and will work without any type of software installation or drivers.
