What is the bus network?

The bus network is an architecture of a computer network in which all devices in the network share the same cable connection that is referred to as a bus. The bus net uses one cable segment on which each computer is connected, and the segment of the cable has the end at each end. Bus nets commonly use 10base2 and 10base5 cables. When the data travels from the device, also called a node, to the cable segment, travels to each computer on the network as it goes and checks that each computer is a target device.

Unlike the ring network or star network, the bus network has problems with cable loss. The data must be traveling down in the bus network, the higher the amount of data loss that can occur, especially if the device in the bus network is far apart. As a result, the device in the bus network must be located at a distance at which the data loss should not be a problem and does not allow scattered workstations such as what is possible on the star, ring or mesh netwoRK.

Although other network architectures allow multiple devices to send data, bus nets are limited in that only one computer can send data at the same time. If two devices try to send data simultaneously, data can be collided. If this happens, both computers will expect a random amount of time and try to send the data again.

The bus nets also rely a lot on the segment of a single cable to keep the network in operation. Any type of cable interruption affects all connected systems and reduces the entire network because one segment is used to connect all computers. If you need to add or remove the computer from the network, the network will also disrupt when the computer is added or removed. If there is a problem, it may be difficult for network technicians to find out exactly what went wrong.

Many companies find the bus networks, however, but the bus nets are easy and cheapIn a way of network implementation. Bus nets do not require any special equipment, use fewer cables than other technologies and are useful for smaller networks. On the other hand, companies that plan to use several devices in the network could prefer the expandability offered by the offered star network, regardless of the required additional cable and setting time.
