What is the link protocol?

LINK PROKOCOL, aspect of communication, is the process of transmission of data units between nodes. It ensures that the amount of data the computer sends is the same amount of data that will receive another computer. There is also an insurance that this is the same type of data previously sent. Link protocol is one part of the layer model called open connection system (OSI), where it is classified under the second layer.

There are seven defined layers that have become a standardized model for computer network architecture. In any specific order, these seven layers consist of application, session, presentation, transport, data, physical layers and network. The line protocol falls under layer two, which is also considered a layer for data connection. On this layer, data is transferred in the network and in a certain physical layer, whether it is a cable, router, Airwave or LAN card. Data transmits between nodes, often to smaller network areas.

The second layer also corresponds to the TCP/IP reference model, which is a protrueThe circumstances of the computer network that developed from the world's first wide network (WAN). Link also evolved from this model and became the protocol of the second layer in the network. This layer performs procedural and functional operations for data transfer between entities in the network. It can also provide detection and correction of errors that may potentially occur at the lower physical layer of the net.

There are three flow control techniques on the second layer. One of these techniques is a simple type of method called automatic repetition requirement (ARQ), which sends a single data frame at a time. Sending another frame only when and if they receive a confirmation that the previous image has been received. Another ARQ used sends groups of data frames according to the size of the window, without having to receive confirmation from the receiver. The last type of ARQ is the process that repeatedly sends data frames even when the data is lost.

The two layer is distinguished, PRIt is one layer under the network layer that includes WAN and the Internet. Data transmissions that occur on the second layer can either go to the Internet or be contained in WAN. Common data transmission places will only occur in the network, are offices, school networks and public Wi-Fi spots. The interconnection protocol is beneficial because if a user transmits sensitive information such as credit card information or social security number, it remains on the network and is safer than going directly to the Internet.
