What is the CPU socket 478?

Sieve 478 Medium processing units (CPUs) are any CPU units used in the CPU Socket 478. These connectors create a connection between certain processors and motherboard, allowing the CPU to work on the necessary functions. The 478 connector, created by Intel® in 2001, is widely used in two CPU platforms: Pentium 4® and Celeron®. The CPU Socket 478 units have a processing speed between 1.4 Gigahertz (GHz) and 3.46 GHz and the front side bus of the connector (FSB) is between 400 Megahertz (MHz) and 1,066 MHz. These processors were discarded in 2008 in favor of the CPU Socket 775. The socket is made to work with a CPU with a certain speed, measured in MHz or GHz, and other CPUs will not work and will not correctly adjust the socket. Intel® has created a 478 socket to replace the 423 socket. The biggest difference, except for the higher memory threshold, is that the distance between the pins where the CPU pins fit half the half socket.Processing power, leading to a CPU at 1.38 inches (3.5 centimeters) to the second.

Most sockets and their CPU counterparts are made for only one or two CPU types, although sometimes they hold more. Socket 478 CPU units were among the last ones using the field with PIN (PGA) grid; Socket 775, which replaced 478, used a new field known as the Land Grid (LGA) field. This type of arrangement uses flat connectors instead of pins and holes. The LGA arrangement generates less heat and allows better integration than a 478 PGA socket.
