What is sysplex?

IBM group of computers or systems that communicate with each other create a system of system or sysplex. This connection allows computer processors to share the workload of the system. The use of this technology increases speed and efficiency, as system users can rely on several machines and processors instead of one basic processor. XCF is a software that controls connections between computers. XCF ensures constant communication between all computers in the system. As a result, the information is updated across the system almost immediately. For this IBM technology, recovery after the disaster is important. Sysplex adds Sysplex Timer® to all connected systems. This ensures that all systems share exactly the same time stamp. Identical time grades allow you to restore and restore information from different systems. Without this time grade, different systems would not be able to restore the same information in synchronization. In 1994 the next generation of thisTechnology for use with 390 IBM operating system called Parallel Sysplex®. The main development in the parallel version was to allow all connected systems to work as the only system.

This parallel technology allows users to access the same information at the same time from different computers. Required changes in shared information are made in order or serialized to avoid loss of changes. For example, Bank Teller can be part of the parallel Sysplex®. After the bank transaction is completed, the same updated account information is displayed at all banking terminals even when located at different branches.

The

time stamp was also updated in the last parallel technology. In earlier versions, Sysplex Timer® was another hardware separated from the mains computer. In 2005, the Timer Hardware was replaced by the server time log (STP) for MA modelsInframe System from Z980 and later. The STP is inserted into the Mainframe code, eliminating the need for further hardware.

The working capacity of the IMB (WLM) was also introduced with the Parallel Sysplex® to increase resource sharing efficiency. WLM sends requirements for the system parts with the lightest workload at a certain time. Using WLM, the user can define goals and set priorities in the system. The WLM then assigns to each request to the system available by the user defined by the user. WLM constantly monitors system resources and adapts data processing to meet the objectives set by the user.
