What is a network of trust?

Web is a nickname for the World Wide Web that refers to both the interconnected group of Internet sites that are connected by hypertext and also for all documents on all Internet servers using HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol). Digital identity is generally detected by online credentials. Companies employ dated digital certificates issued by CA (Certified Authority), ie a trusted third party, as part of an encryption system of a public key that verifies the user's identity and enables secure communication on the Internet. Web trust (WOT) is another mechanism for verifying digital identity on the Internet. It is an informal mechanism that relies on trust rather than authority.

In a network of trust, which was conceived as a mechanism for PGP (quite good privacy) its creator Phil Zimmermann, there is no central power to guarantee for identity. BowlThis, with a new public key, finds someone who has a few keys, public and private and asks to be their signatory. The purpose of signation is to verify the identity of a person with a new public key in some undontishable way, such as a personal meeting. The second step before the key signature is to ensure that the key fingerprint in the key is correct and as soon as the signature is completed, the signed key can be published on key servers. People who trust the signal and believe that they have correctly identified the owner of the public key and verified the key fingerprint, they may decide to expand their confidence in the keys that the person signed.

To replace the fact that signatories in the system are amateurs, a network of trust requires more signatories. The concept is that there is a greater chance of avoiding an incorrect assessment or defective process of any signator in more independent signatories. Rather than a global website or growth of confidence growing in Weblike Fashion, the "Web" link is to the multiplicity of the signatories vouchingFor each certificate and creation of a network of security.

Web of Trust is also Firefox®. The aim is to help users avoid online fraud, including attempts at phishing, spyware, viruses, adware, fraud identification, adult content and spam. The Wot® company also offers Wot® Trust Seal, which was supposed to be a sign of a renowned site.
