What is Activex®?

ACTIVEX® is a set of technologies with object -oriented programming (OOP) created by Microsoft®. Allows software applications to share functionality and information. ACTIVEX® is a self -sufficient program that only works in Windows® operating systems.

Activex® has been created to ensure that different applications share the same features. The best example is Spell Checker Activex®. Instead of writing two separate spelling programs, a single spelling control object was created to ensure that its functionality is shared between various Microsoft® applications like Word and PowerPoint®.

ACTIVEX® technology has evolved in the form of an object connection and insertion (OLE). Ole allowed sharing simple features such as cut and paste between different applications. Later it evolved into the idea of a module of a composite object (COM). Independent modules and applets such as spelling control are COMS or ACTIVEX® Objects that can be accessed from WindowS®.

ACTIVEX® control is a plug-in or a small program written in C ++ and Visual Basic. Like Java Applets, ActiveX® controls are small applications that run in web browsers. Programs that support such plugins are called containers or containers of the ACTIVEX® component.

The

Microsoft® Internet Explorer® (IE) uses Controls or ACTIVEX® Objects to facilitate the playback of rich media. This type of control on Internet Explorer® allows users to watch video clips on the website. Users do not have to run the Windows® Media Player player to watch clips. The ACTIVEX® pre -loaded check approaches the media player and plays clips in the Internet Explorer® browser.

Another example of Activex®Bject is the Flash® Activex® control. FLASH® files can only play Adobe ™ F playerLash®. Some websites are programmed exclusively with Flash® that Internet Explorer® cannot play. Therefore, the Flash Activex® component is installed to display the web. It automatically detects websites containing flash files and approaches Flash® and plays files directly in the browser window.

The fact that these controls can be re -used many programs was more vulnerable to harmful spyware. The attacker can reuse the component and add a malicious code and access personal data and files. To come up with a comprehensive solution, Microsoft® has added some skills to Internet Explorer®. Whenever the web attempts to install the ACTIVEX® control, Internet Explorer® will display warnings. This means that the site cannot automatically install the ACTIVEX® component to ensure that your system is secured and impossible.
