What is the ADSL line filter?
Asymmetric digital subscription line (ADSL) brings high -speed internet services to households and businesses using standard copper telephone lines. While voice traffic and internet service occupy various frequency tapes that allow both services to be used at the same time, there may be intervention. The ADSL Line filter is a small device that connects to the telephone wall connector and has a female port RJ-11 for a standard telephone line. This puts the filter between the incoming Telco signal and the phone and filters out the ADSL service. Each line in the area should be installed a line ADSL filter, except for the ADSL modem/router.
The frequency used by the ADSL service is a higher band than the frequencies used by the voice transmission of Telco, but the signals at the bottom end of the ADSL band and signals from the upper end of the voice traffic zone can interact, create static, interference, echoes and other anomalies. The ADSL line filter will maintain telephone lines without adslfrekvent. Lines that run onAnalog modem and fax machines should also be used with the ADSL line filter.
In some cases, ADSL providers who will access DSL clients for self -installations will also include one or more line filters with the installation package. If multiple filters are required, they can be purchased from most electronic stores and online retailers. If the client decides to provide his own modem to be used with ADSL, ADSL will need to buy. The DSL modem itself will have a built -in filter for the phone port built into the rear of the device. The phone connected to this port should not require an external filter.
In some cases, people prefer to set up the incoming ADSL service using a line sprayer on an incoming telephone line at the point of entering the building. By distributing an incoming line into two separate legs, one ADSL line filter can be placedTěn on the leg running to the wall jacks. The remaining unfiltered line will be lowered directly into a single connector where the ADSL modem will be installed. This setting only has the advantage of using one ADSL filter, but the Telco employee must install a line. In addition, the unfiltered wall jack is the only place that can work the modem, so it is uncomfortable if one decides to re -organize a household or office.
ADSL line filters range from approximately $ 4 (USD) to $ 11 or more USD. A special design for the phones mounted on the wall includes a filter of the ADSL line integrated into the mounting board.
