What Is an Internet Information Server?

Internet Information Services (Internet Information Services, IIS for short) can easily publish information on the Internet or intranet. IIS includes many features for managing websites and Web servers. And with programming features like Active Server Pages (ASP), you can use it to create and configure scalable, flexible web applications. IIS is not installed by default, but it can be added through the Add / Remove Programs dialog box in Control Panel.
