Such computer art can often be used for special effects in movies and television, to create virtual environments in video games and to create advertising images that are too perfect to be a reality.

artistic expression can also use computers and modern technology to mix methods of the past with digital media options. Computer art that combines such techniques can include digital images of incorporationDruhé in a larger image or painted image that is photographed and then digitally manipulated using a computer. Such works would usually be created for the purposes of fine art or to create a final picture that overcomes the abilities of both media.

Computer art may also include the forms of visual expression used by computers and digital technology to display the artwork itself. This may include a job that is created digitally and displayed only on computer screens or other monitors, which completely avoids expressions in any physical medium. Such art could also include multimedia presentations in which computers and technologies help with greater display or improvement. For example, the artist could create a statue in white plaster or stone, and then project different images on the statue using a computer and projector, improve the original piece and add other layers of meaning.
