PetraSim frees analysts, allowing them to focus on the model itself, while automatically processing the tedious details of TOUGH2 input and output files, thereby greatly reducing the difficulty of using TOUGH2. The TOUGH2 version with PetraSim includes TOUGH2 and T2VOC executable programs, reducing cost and complexity for users.
PetraSim is a graphical interface for the TOUGH2 simulation program family. TOUGH2 and its derivatives were developed by the Lawrence Berkeley National Labroatory and are recognized for their powerful simulation capabilities for water and heat transfer in porous and fractured media, including multicomponent mixtures of volatile organic compounds (TMVOC). TOUGH2 has been used for multi-phase, multi-component problems including environmental remediation and groundwater flow in the Yucca Mountains.
