What is IP migration?

IP migration is server migration between locations. These locations may be physical changes in location or change of virtual address. IP migration must be properly managed because the server addresses are not updated over 48 hours in the Internet in some cases. Most IP migration changes are therefore planned for a period of consecutive hours. Others may have to set a specific time frame of the outage in which the migration is to follow. If the company has critical data data that must be moved in the IP migration process, the company can first create a duplicate of such data. Once the data is duplicated, the migration process can use duplicate data for critical missions and move the original data set. After migrating the original data set, the critical process of the mission for the use of the data set is reset rather than a copy that completes the migration for the data file.
