What Is Location Transparency?

Location transparency means that users do not have to know where the data they are working on, that is, which site or sites the data is distributed to is transparent to the user. Therefore, changes to the data sharding model, such as transferring data from one site to another, will not affect the application, so the application does not have to be rewritten. The distributed transparency provided by the distributed database system at different levels includes: slice transparency, location transparency, and local image transparency.
