What Is Socket N?

A three-hole socket is a socket with the upper face as the ground wire, the left neutral wire (N), and the right live wire (L). In general, single-phase electrical equipment, especially mobile electrical equipment, should use a three-core plug and its matching three-hole socket.

Three-hole socket

A three-hole socket is a socket with the upper face as the ground wire, the left neutral wire (N), and the right live wire (L). In general, single-phase electrical equipment, especially mobile electrical equipment, should use a three-core plug and its matching three-hole socket.
The neutral wire must be connected to the main line of the neutral line, and not between the left jack terminal and the neutral line.

The three-hole socket has a dedicated protective zero (ground) jack. When zero-connection protection is used, some people often directly connect the terminal of this hole to the zero wire introduced into the socket only in the bottom of the socket. This is extremely dangerous. Because in case of power
(1) In power supply systems that are not grounded at the neutral point, protective grounding must be performed. In systems that are grounded at the neutral point, equipment enclosures can be used for zero protection. But these two protection methods are not allowed to share in a low-voltage power grid at the same time.
(2) The use of protective zero connection has the following characteristics: The electrical equipment using protective zero connection, if the insulation is damaged, the "phase" to "zero" short-circuit current is much larger than the protective grounding method, so it can Prompt the fuse or automatic air switch to operate in a short time, and quickly cut off the power supply; Since the neutral and phase wires are generally laid in parallel, it is safe and convenient to use protection when connecting to zero.
(3) When using a single-phase socket for protection. The wiring must be correct, as shown in Figure 1.
The single-phase three-hole socket has the right jack connected to the phase line, the left jack connected to the neutral line, and the upper jack (the aperture is larger than the other two jacks) connected to the protective neutral line. However, this neutral wire must be connected to the main line of the neutral line, and cannot be connected between the left jack terminal and the neutral line. as shown in picture 2.
In this way, once the neutral line is disconnected, as shown in Figure 3, the voltage of the phase line is led to the left jack of the working neutral line through the electrical equipment, and then transmitted to the equipment casing by the connecting line, so that personnel who touch the equipment casing Electric shock. Therefore, you must strictly follow the correct wiring method to install a three-hole socket.

Two types of three-hole socket

1. For household electricity, there is one more PE (ground) wire, which is connected to the metal casing of the consumer. When a leakage accident occurs, people will not get an electric shock when they touch the casing of the consumer.
2. There are very few 3-pin plugs for industrial use that are connected to ABC three-phase 380V power supplies, which is different from 3-pin plugs for home use. </ CA>

Three-hole socket precautions

The neutral line is a line drawn from the neutral point of the generator or power transformer. If it is not grounded, it is called the neutral line. If it is well grounded (the ground is at zero potential), the neutral line is also called the neutral line. Although the neutral and ground wires of civil power are drawn from the same point, their respective functions are separated and cannot be mixed. For example, the neutral and live wires are electrical circuit wires, they are insulated from the housing of the appliance, and the current flowing in the wires is the same size, so the wire diameter is the same thickness. The ground wire is connected to the housing of the appliance. When the appliance is faulty, current flows. Generally there is no current, so the wire diameter is much thinner. The neutral wire and the live wire are electrical circuits, so you must never connect the neutral wire to the casing, which will cause people to get an electric shock.
Ground wire, neutral wire and live wire: The ground is a good conductor, and the ground wire is short-circuited to the ground through a buried electrode. The transmission of mains power is in a three-phase manner, and there is a neutral line. When the three-phase is balanced, the current of the neutral line is zero, which is commonly known as "zero line". The electrical input is shorted and the voltage difference is close to zero. The three phase wires of the three-phase power have a voltage of 220 with the neutral wire, which can cause electric shock to people, commonly known as "fire wire". There are strict standards for the installation and arrangement of electrical circuits. In practice, the correct assembly of ground, neutral and live wires according to standards is critical to safety.
