What Is the International Data Encryption Algorithm?
The International Data Encryption Algorithm (IDEA) was jointly proposed by a professor from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Lai Xuejia, and Swiss scholar James Massey. It was officially announced in 1990 and has since been enhanced. This algorithm was developed based on the DES algorithm, similar to triple DES. The development of IDEA is also because of the shortcomings that DES has too short keys. IDEA's key is 128 bits, and such a long key should be secure for several years to come.
