The thermal print head consists of a row of heating elements. These elements have the same resistance. These elements are densely packed, ranging from 200dpi to 600dpi. These elements will quickly generate high temperature when a certain current is passed. When these components are reached, the temperature will rise in a very short time, and the dielectric coating will react chemically and appear colored.

Control of thermal print head
An image in the computer is decomposed into linear image data for output and sent to the print head respectively. For each dot in the linear image, the print head will assign a heating dot to correspond to it.
Although the print head can only print dots, to print complex things such as curves, barcodes or pictures must be broken down into linear lines by computer software or printers. Imagine cutting the image into lines, as shown above. The line must be very thin, so that the content in the line becomes a point. Simply put, you can think of a heating point as a "square" point, and the smallest width can be the same as the spacing between the heating points. For example, the most common print head division rate is 8 dots / mm, and the pitch should be 0.125mm, that is, 8 heating dots per millimeter heating line, which is equivalent to printing 203 dots or 203 lines per inch.
