What are muddy curtains?
muddy curtains are protective barriers used in the marine environment to control pollution caused by suspended sediments such as silk soil or stone dust. When water drainage or construction activity creates a sediment in the waterways, the contents of this suspended sediment are used mud curtains. By limiting the sediment to a particular area, the rest of the waterway is protected from the harmful effects of pollution. For example, in the United States, for example, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Pure Water Act to control natural resources, including waterways, have been developed. Specifically, pure water and the law order the use of mud as a barrier to contain and reduce pollution caused by construction activities and coastalization procedures. These protective barriers are available in floating and set designs. Floating curtains with mud are available in three types.
Floating mud type I is designed for use in quiet waters. ApplicationE Small ponds or inland lakes and channels may include quiet waters. This type of mud is suitable for checking the pollution of sediments caused by rainwater drainage associated with nearby construction or agricultural activity.
Floating curtains of type II are designed for use in medium waters. This type of mud is more robust than mud type I. It is used in rivers and streams with more pronounced current and surface activity. Floating Mud Curtain II is commonly used during the construction or demolition of the bridge and checking the sediment created during the stabilization effort for the coast.
Floating curtain type III is built for use in harsh waters and intercoastaral waterways. These muddy curtains are designed for deployment in areas that have high currents and heavy surface activity. Usually observed in areas where a large building is being built near the waterwayY or in the case of environmental disaster, type III mud is suitable for cleaning industrial leaks and control of heavy metal runoff. Type III custom barriers are commonly used to clean and detention of oil leaks.
Downloaded barriers of mud and mud fences are designed to check sediment in areas of extreme shallow water with very limited stream and without surface activity. This type of muddy curtain is commonly used in ditches on roads or very shallow channels to control outflow from the construction of a road or erosion. It is designed to limit the sediments in one place, but is not built to withstand the current and surface activity of floating mud curtains.
