What is the cavity?

The

cavity wall consists of two separate walls that were built narrowly together with the space between them. Each of these walls can be made of a different type of masonry such as brick or concrete or other materials. The resulting space allows the cavity wall to be more efficient in insulation than a single -layer wall, or that consists of two layers that were connected together where space would be. Moisture, which is absorbed into the outer wall masonry, usually releases space and outside the base of the wall, which is another advantage for this type of structure. The loss of heat can be significantly reduced by the cavity, resulting in lower heating accounts and at the same time less harmful to the environment. Further insulation may also be placed in the wall space that increases its increased level of effectiveness. In order to be the most effective, the space in the wall of the cavity must be sealed, where doors and windows are built into the wall.

In the example of the typical wall of the cavity, the outer part will be made of brick layer, while the inner layer will be designed from heavier, wider materials such as concrete blocks. The outer layer can be covered with some type of siding, but is more often left exposed to aesthetics of the house or building. In the meantime, the space may vary in size. Larger spaces are better in insulation of the interior of the building, while smaller spaces maintain a larger amount of area that can be devoted to the inner floor space. On the outer layer of the wall of the cavity, which serves as drainage holes for moisture that have worked out into the interior of the wall, there are usually also holes referred to as crying. .

This type of wall was devised to use in the 19th century in the UK and is now employed around the world. Initially, the main use was to prevent moisture from the entrance to walls, but the purpose of using cavity walls is nowadays mainly insulation. Many types of Environmen contribute to their importanceTalt fears that exist today, including a reduction in environmental waste and maintain natural resources such as fossil fuels.
