What is the drill gauge?

Drill gauge is a device used to identify the size of a drilling bit. It can be made of steel, aluminum, plastic or wood and contains a number of holes that represent different sizes of drills. Each hole is marked by measurement based on its size. These measurements can be etched into the drill gauge or printed at the top. Sizes are a bit based on the bit diameter and are available in metric and fractional units. Metric drill bits are usually used in countries that use the metric system, while fractional bits are used in the US and other countries that usually do not use the metric system. Drill sizes were given by number, from 80 to 1, then by letter from A to Z, resulting in 106 different bit sizes. The smallest pieces were those that were listed as an 80-meter, while the largest was Z-Gouge. While the meters can still be found on some drill pieces, metric or fractional size is much more common.

The tool for the measuring size of the drill may contain the measuring size together with the fractional and metric equivalent. Others may contain only standard metric or fractional measurements. While the size of the meter is less common today, the tool measurement tool gets its name from this size system.

Builders can use a drill gauge for a wide range of applications. It can provide a little size, or can be used to the size of the fastening element to determine what bit should be used with it. When using the drill gauge, it is important to understand that the tip of the piece is generally less than the rest of the body. If you want to get accurate measurements, put the whole bit in a hole in the breakup until you find a hole that best represents the size of the bit.

Many Carpenters and builders make their own drill using a wood block. First, choose a piece of wood that is large enough to suit all bits in your drilling set. Drill the holey to wood to represent each individual bit. After all holes have been drilled, mark each hole with the appropriate breakup or measurement depending on the system with which you are most comfortable with.
