What is a flange seal?
If pipes are connected to carry liquid or gas, the connection between the pipes is sealed to prevent the leakage or intrusion of external contaminants. Products used to seal these pipe joints are known as seals. The flange seal is a specific seal style used to create seals when two ends of the pipe are connected under the flange pipe.
The most common use for seals is in the service industry, where a sufficiently sealed water pipe is needed to prevent water leakage, pressure loss or external foreign contaminants entering the pipeline. The main types of tubular joints in regular use in this industry are the joints of the sockets and SPIGOT, also known as Tyton joints in some places and flange joints. In the Soket and SPIGOT applications, the seals are of a strong rounded part of the rubber, which fits in the drawer drawer. This seal is then compressed when the end of the upper pipe is inserted, it creates a seal.
In water pipe applications, flange joints are commonly specified for above -ground pipes and for pipes and fittings in the chambers. The flange pipes have wide, flattened ends, which will be commonly supplied with the prescription holes to bring the flange ends of the neighboring pipes together. When connecting the flange pipes to the end of the pipeline or parts of the cut pipe, the adapter flange can be used to create a flange end for the neighboring pipe to which it will be screwed.
commonly made of heavy rubber, the flange seal is a flat ring designed to match the flattened end of the pipe to which it will be repaired. The flange seals will contain holes that allow the connecting screws to circumvent the seal and attach to the neighboring end of the pipe. When the connecting screws are tightened, the rubber flange seals are compressed and therefore creates a seal against leaks and inputs of contaminating substances.
6These types of seals are made of steel and are mainly used in the oil and gas industries. The rings seals are solid steel rings, which can also be made in different shapes to match the cross -sectional appearance of the host tube. The spiral seal of the wound consists of stainless steel rings to the wound arranged in the V formation, while the open end in the towards the outer surface of the flange. The pressure on the base in causes the sides to spread and create a seal against flange surfaces.
