What Is a Glory Hole?
Glorious Cave is a pivot switch for the Monticello Dam, located in Lupa County, northern California (latitude and longitude: 38.512235, -122.104883). The effect is to drain the excess water as soon as the storage capacity of the Monticello Dam reaches its limit. Data show that Monticelome's outlet flow can reach 48,400 cubic feet per second (1,370 cubic meters) when the Glory Cave is fully opened.
