What is a hand snail?

Hand snail, sometimes called a pocket worm, is a tool, often made of steel, which is used for naughing a hole. Usually, hand snails are used to create holes in dirt, ice or wood, although hand snail can also be used to create holes in other materials. The use of hand in the term limits this type of tool to one that can be used manually and is powered by human force.

There are many different types of snails. There are mechanical and motor snails. Perhaps the most common mechanical snail is what is used to create holes in which a post for a fence or gate is inserted. It is also known as dredge of holes or caps. Motorized snails, which are usually not considered to be the type of Augera hand, can be separate tools, or there may be attachments used in conjunction with hand drills that are powered by electricity. The plumber, also known as the snake of the plumber, is slightly different from most snails.blocking; But these hand snails are also manual and driven by the user.

The part of the hand snail that makes real boredom is shaped similarly to the Archimedes screw. Outside it looks like a loose bolt and the center shaft may or may not be hollow. Traditional woodworking hand snail is this type of screw worm, which usually does not have a hollow shaft. The tool is screwed into the material and as the tool is unscrewed, the material is removed and a hole is formed.

, however, the hand snail is not the right tool in all applications. When digging a hole for inserting a column, for example in soils with a high clay content, the excavation or digging of the hole is usually preferred. These snail types usually have two long, curved metal panels opposite each other, which are pushed into the material. The Augers are then attracted to each other and the instrument is removed from the material and leaves the hole behind. When planting bulbsHowever, a small snail may be more effective because it is easy to control the diameter and depth of the hole. Augers are also used to collect soil samples for soil testing.

manual and mechanical snails differ greatly in size, purpose and thus price. Makeup steel is once the drive force, while the blades of carbon steels with a high handle usually cost more. Ice hand snails usually create a hole between 5 inches (12.5 cm) to 8 inches (about 20 cm). Adjustable snail from the hands allows the user to edit the handles. Garden snails are usually 3 or 4 inches (7.6 to about 10 cm), although it should be noted that mechanical snails are much larger and suitable for cultivation or other heavy garden work.

Augers can reduce and be boring with time and use. For maintenance, the correct maintenance of the tool integrity is necessary. The tool should be cleaned after each use. Metal components can also help the longevity of the tool. Also the sharp edge of the snail would benefitCH from occasional friction with grinding or improvement to keep the working edge sharp.
