What is a polymer capacitor?

The polymer capacitor is the type of electrolytic capacitor with a fixed ion wire rather than a liquid electrolyte. Capacitors are an electrical storage device usually composed of two metal wires. Electrolytic capacitors replace one or both conductors with an electrolyte solution. In the polymer capacitor, the electrolyte is impregnated with organic semiconductor crystals instead of liquid. Fixed electrolyte allows faster discharge speed and better power fluctuations.

The use of electrolyte as a wire allows electrolytic capacitors to maintain a larger charge in a device with a smaller volume. As a result, they are particularly suitable for use in power filters and store the charge needed to reduce the fluctuations on the output. The use of a solid electrolyte in the polymer capacitor allows further reduction in size and at the same time increases performance and durability.

Theoretically, the perfect capacitor should have the evaluation of the equivalent series (ESR) zero. There would be no electricResistance to none of its components and none of the associated heat is formed. The polymer capacitor usually has a lower ESR rating that remains stable in a higher temperature range than other electrolytic patterns. Lower ESR rating allow faster responses to larger transitions in the stream

Power supply, which has an alternative current input (AC), often occurs periodic fluctuation in direct current output (DC) called ripple. Some power supply systems, such as systems used for computer motherboard, object capacitors to high stress from the current of the current. Polymer capacitors are much more resistant to this stress and have a longer service life.

The metal wire of the polymer capacitor is usually made of thin aluminum foil. The dielectric of aluminum oxide is layered on the foil by an electrochemical process called anodization. Foils with a dielectric layer form an anode oro Electric input path. For electric current, the cathode or output from the path to the impregnation of electrolyte and the uninsulated length of the film is formed.

Effective surface surface of foil elements in aluminum polymer capacitor increases etching before generating aluminum oxide. The paper impregnated with an organic semiconductor or a conductive polymer separates the anode and cathode foil. Layered elements are converted into a coil, equipped with pin connectors and sealed in an aluminum sleeve.

polymer capacitors are much more expensive than wet electrolytics. They are usually produced in small, low -voltage versions for use on devices such as mobile phones, graphics cards and top motherboard from the server. Their specialized use makes it difficult to find polymer capacitors because relatively few distributors focus on consumers are transmitted in stock.
