What Is a Positive Displacement Flow Meter?
Positive displacement flowmeter is a meter that directly accumulates flow based on the volume of discharged fluid. It consists of measurement room, moving parts, transmission and display parts. Assuming that the fixed standard volume of the measurement chamber is V, and the fixed standard volume of the fluid discharged through the flow meter within a certain time interval is n, the total volume Q of the measured fluid is Q = nV. Using the counter to measure the number of revolutions n of the moving parts through the transmission mechanism, the flow rate Q of the measured fluid can be displayed. There are two types of reciprocating motion and rotary motion of the moving parts of the positive displacement flowmeter. Reciprocating types include household gas meters and piston oil meters. [1]
